Outdoor Envy

There's no better way to unwind than by sitting out on a porch with a good book and a glass of iced tea. In much of the South, the porch is considered a room in the house just like any other. In these spaces, that sentiment is reflected through the use of curtains, throw pillows, rugs, and potted plants that add personality, charm, and a sense of legitimate roomness if you will.

I love curtains on a porch. It gives you the option of privacy while still being out in the open.

Potted plants add charm and look beautiful from the street.

Candles, cacti and Corona create a southwestern feel.

Your pets will enjoy the porch, too!

Nothing quite like a porch swing.

Multiple gathering areas makes this porch perfect for a party.

A glossy coat of paint brightens things up.

I want to put up curtains outside when I go home, maybe I can buy some that will keep bugs out too. OOOOH can't wait.

I love the ideas, do you think this could also work in a small apartment patio? Any thoughts/ideas? ...My husband and I just moved to this new place in Austin Texas and i'm looking for inspiration to every room in the apt. including outside.

definitely Caterine! This is one of my favorite apartment balconies I've seen - its got plants, furniture and a rug and looks gorgeous! Here are some more ideas from Apartment Therapy. I especially love #7 and #8. It just depends on how much space you have. Good luck! I'd love to see before & after pics.
