Well Styled

Came across annaleena's blog recently and I'm in love with her aesthetic. This is her own home that she styled and photographed herself. It's fresh and clean, yet layered and informal. The Swedes really know how to do it right.

This and That

It's that time of week again - I can totally smell Friday. Here are some goodies to help you push on through

The many faces of Amy Poehler - love this woman. Check them out, there are 30 of them! via Jezebel
this made me want to move to Finland (and lets not forget about this - or this for that matter)
Can't get enough of all the textures layered in this beautiful home
Feist is sweet and you can stream her new album Metals right here FOR FREE!
Glad to come across a good excuse for making three pots a day (and to ignore the slight jitters)
I really love that this is happening
and also that this is happening

Happy Thursday :)

Get Shorty

I'm loving shorts for fall - especially over tights. Here are a few that would look great with tights or by themselves:

Metallic: TopShop premium lurex boucle shorts $80, InWear pailletten-hotpants €69, Robert Rodriguez metallic cotton-blend shorts £90
Bow-Tied: Second Female shorts €31,48, Lover arabesque bow shorts $264, TopShop self tie silk shorts $76
P/leather: 180 by Jean Yu perforated leather shorts $265, Gryphon leather shorts £133, Jane Norman faux leather shorts £10.50

*I had to change this graphic. The turquoise headers were grossing me out. Hope you like this one better, too! :)

Desperate Housewives

A picture is worth a thousand words. Love these colorful faceless paintings by Kelly Reemtsen, and this photo I came across on tumblr makes me laugh every time. Seriously - what are they about to go do? Is it halloween? Unfortunately I lost the source, but I'm dying to know some context so if you know anything, give me a shout.

This and That

A few Fashion Week favorites from the top: Tracy Reese, Jill Stuart, Christian Siriano, and J. Crew - (I know I said I wasn't going to post any photos from the J.Crew show but I really just couldn't help myself.)
Love this new Florence + the Machine song Shake it Out
Also love perusing Dana McClure's shop - thanks to designformankind
Suri's Burn Book - musings on fashion, travel, and other celebrity children from the perspective of Suri Cruise
Amanda makes changing up your furniture look easy with Upholstery Basics on DesignSponge
These rules make me laugh because they are so on point - It's good to know I'm not the only one guilty of this

Patterns I Love: Kristin Reger for dublab

Love these patterns by Kristin Reger, and I totally agree with Courtney at designworklife - they'd be awesome as fabric or wallpaper.

J is for Jenna

J.Crew made its New York Fashion Week debut yesterday and received rave reviews from everyone and their mother - if you haven't seen pics, seriously check it out. I started to share some of my favorite looks from the show, but decided instead to pay tribute to the woman responsible for the brand's immense success in recent years, the fabulous President-Executive Creative Director Jenna Lyons.

Seriously, who looks that cool wearing a sweater over a feather maxi? After reading this article, I decided I would really like her if I knew her in person. And THEN I saw her home and decided she's my ultimate girl crush:

dentil crown molding, floor to ceiling windows and a custom chandelier

glossy black window frames - yes please! Also good to know someone as successful as her is as cluttered as I am.

Annnd her closet. sigh.

I guess what I'm trying to say is - Jenna turned a catalog brand that easily could have gone the way of L.L.Bean (remember J.Crew circa 2002? so boring.) into one of the most talked about shows at Fashion Week.
And for that she is awesome.
